Brewing Beginners Course

Our Brewing Beginners Course will always begin with a guided cupping of our range, allowing you to easily experience the impact that origin, terroir and post harvest processing methods have on a coffee's flavour profile. Utilising this knowledge will help you in your first steps towards understanding the dynamics of extraction across different brew methods and exploring suitable brew recipes, with the ultimate aim of producing a better balance of flavours at home.

There will be plenty of time allocated for hands-on brewing using a range of both domestic and professional level equipment, including the Aeropress, our favourite flat bottom and cone shape brewers, Fellow Stagg EKG kettles, and 1Zpresso Q Heptagonal and Mahlkönig Omnia grinders. The reason for this is that we want to help close the gap between professional baristas and coffee enthusiasts and prove that once and for all, you can brew as good as we do!

This will be an amazing opportunity to make use of your time with John, our dedicated trainer, who is responsible for teaching our wonderful wholesale customers, including many of the best specialty coffee shops and restaurants in Yorkshire. Each attendee will receive tailored feedback and guidance regarding their practical skills. Not to mention, you will also be given access to a host of resources and receive a 250g bag of coffee following the course, enabling you to put your new skills to the test right away!

When you book your place, you won’t need to do anything else; we will be in touch the week before your course is scheduled and confirm all the necessary details. The course will take place at our newest training facility, the North Star Coffee Hub, situated next door to our Coffee Shop & General Store on Leeds Dock (LS10 1PZ). Top tip: give yourself one less thing to worry about, book a table and treat yourself afterwards - nothing a brew won’t sort.

Once you have placed your order, you will receive an email to confirm it is being processed and then another one to let you know when it has been dispatched.

If you place your order before 12pm, we'll dispatch it the same working day! All orders are shipped with DPD next working day delivery as standard. Fully tracked delivery, with a one hour delivery window and real time delivery updates.

DPD offers the ability to change delivery address and date, opt for delivery to a neighbour or safe place, or redirect to a DPD Pickup shop, all while it's on the way to you! DPD aim to be the UK's most sustainable delivery company.

Operating times are 9am-5pm Mon-Friday. Orders placed after 12pm on Friday will not be processed until 9am Monday morning.

Local pickups take place from the Roastery on Tong Road. Please note our shutter doors will be down for security and temperature reasons but we are always in Monday-Friday between 9 and 5pm – just ring the doorbell on arrival
