Brazil Vale Da Grama

As the largest producer of coffee in the world, Brazil is famed for quantity over quality and has huge influence over the global value of all coffee on the commercial market. If Brazil exceeds expected production levels, the coffee market can bottom out with the fear of supply exceeding demand, causing unsustainable prices for producers on the other side of the world. With such a focus on volume, it can be difficult to find a partner driven to process specialty grade beans.

This Coffee's Story

This coffee comes from the region of Vale De Grama in the State of Sao Paulo where coffee has been cultivated since the 19th Century. The region is well known for its high quality coffee and it was here in 1991 in the city of São Sebastião da Grama where the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA) was founded. This coffee is a blend of two processes to provide a sweet and balanced cup.

Natural - 80 %

The coffee is picked mechanically and then sorted according to ripeness and density in the wet mill. Coffee is then taken to patios where it is dried for 7-10 days.

Pulped Natural - 20%

The coffee is picked mechanically and then sorted according to ripeness and density in the wet mill. For the pulped natural they need ripe cherry to be able tp pulp it removing almost all the mucilage. The coffee is then taken to patios where it is dried for 7-10 days.

The varietals in the blend are Yellow Bourbon, Catuaí and Catucaí some of the most well known for quality in Brazil.

Adaptable Bliss

Brazil Fazenda 7 works for us as it’s so versatile - whether in Cappucino for breakfast, Americano or Espresso later. It makes a great cuppa. We switched to subscription some time back as we ensure we don’t run out. It’s a service that’s always on time and the quality is still great. And we just love North Star cafe. It’s special

Lovely tasting blend

My partner and I love this blend, definitely has the flavour notes listed. Only negative is that it was be ground too fine. I have a Breville Mini Barista, and after weighing out either 17g - 18g, the extraction run time ranges from 34-40ish seconds. This could be an issue with using a pressurised basket however. Definitely would recommend!
